Natalie's Score: 93/100

Full-bodied Australian red wine with classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, blackcurrant and blackberry. Surprisingly elegant for a New World cab. Like it lots! This wine is aged for 22 months in French and American oak and offers a toasty finish. Nicely balanced oak with the fruit and character of the wine. Pair with brisket. Highly recommended.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Ripe red raspberry and strawberry on nose with palate of luscious ripe red berries, slight mint, cedar, rich vanilla. Very smooth, velvety tannins, smooth red fruit finish.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A lovely deep ruby colour with enticing aromas of red berries, vanilla, cloves, pepper, toasted oak. The palate has dried red fruit with a lift of mint on the long finish. This red wine spent 22 months in French (30% new )and American oak barriques. Tannins are polishing and acidity is balanced and cleansing. An elegant full-bodied Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon from a consistent quality producer. Pair with BBQ meats. Drink now but has potential to age.
Tasted: February 2015
The 2011 vintage of the Katnook Estate Cabernet is the winery's 30th vintage for this wine. This robust red wine was aged for 22 months in 60% French and 40% American oak barrels. Polished tannins. - Community Wine Reviews
