The nose unfurls with ripe plum and wild blueberry, woven through soft violet petals and a whisper of toasted almond, all lifted by a subtle cinnamon-and-clove spice. On the palate it’s lush and generous—think juicy berry compote and dark cherry woven into a plush, velvety frame. Silky, fine-grain tannins carry you through a long, lingering finish that’s both succulent and refined. A great companion to grilled lamb chops with rosemary and garlic or Mexican-style venison sausage and roasted root vegetables.

Syrah food pairings: Mexican-style venison sausage and roasted root vegetables, stuffed rolled flank steak, grilled lamb.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
