Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Fragrant blackberry jam / ripe cassis nose followed by a delicious bright palate giving ripe blackcurrant, strawberry, baking spice, vanilla and subtle oak. Silky smooth harmonious mouthfeel with a long berry finish- a prize!
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Loved this wine! The deep inky colour is a foreshadowing of aromas and flavours to follow.
Black cherry, strawberry, plum, vanilla, sweet baking spices, chocolate and a lift of graphite. Full-bodied, rich, smooth, luscious - lingering chocolate covered strawberry finish. Good acid to fruit ratio. Excellent Valentine gift. Hefty price tag but worth the splurge. Enjoy over the next 5 years. Serve with finer cuts of red meat. How about a Valentine Prime Rib dinner?
Tasted: January 2016
Very balanced with good structure in this classic Californian Cabernet from J. Lohr's Painter Bridge label. Terrific for dinner parties and gifts! Pair with a coffee-rubbed steak. Ruby hue in the glass. Carol's Vineyard is planted in St. Helena in Napa Valley. It's named for Jerry Lohr's late wife Carol. The vines are planted in gravel, sandy loam soils and enjoy a Bordeaux-like climate. This is a single vineyard wine. Two dollars from the sale of each bottle goes toward the National Breast Caner Foundation to fund mammograms for women in need. The 2013 vintage shows intense concentration as a result of the parched vines with the Californian drought. - Community Wine Reviews
