Very balanced with good structure in this classic Californian Cabernet from J. Lohr's Painter Bridge label. Full-bodied, but not heavy. Attractive aromas of dark chocolate, black plum and blackberry. Good mouth-watering action on the palate for food. Terrific for dinner parties and gifts! Pair with a coffee-rubbed steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: roast leg of lamb and root vegetables, beef enchiladas, barbecued ribs in sauce, hamburger, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The label suggests "classy and elegant" with it's gold and script. The ruby liquid in the bottle delivers decadence. Luscious baked strawberry, blackberry, cassis, coconut, smoke, floral, vanilla, bakers chocolate. A veritable feast for the senses! The palate is smooth and length is long with a warm fruit driven finish. Nice balance of acidity and fruit. Every bite of this wine is a gift. This wine honours the memory of Carol Lohr, late wife of founder Jerry Lohr. Pair with finer cuts of beef or...your Valentine. Hint. Hint.
Tasted: January 2015
Carol's Vineyard is planted in St. Helena in Napa Valley. It's named for Jerry Lohr's late wife Carol. The vines are planted in gravel, sandy loam soils and enjoy a Bordeaux-like climate. This is a single vineyard wine. Two dollars from the sale of each bottle goes toward the National Breast Caner Foundation to fund mammograms for women in need. - Community Wine Reviews
