Tart cherries and lots of acidity on this medium-bodied Oregonian Pinot Noir. Smooth and supple and balanced. A little herbal on the finish. Pair with Pacific coast salmon.

Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled chicken, veal medallions, lamb in a red wine sauce, roasted pork loin, grilled tuna with a pepper crust.

Reviews and Ratings

Erika Halle rated this wine as 96/100
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

ILLAHE pronounced Ill-Uh-Hee is a local Willamette word from Chinook jargon meaning "earth" or "soil" or "place". This winery in Oregon uses age old techniques in wine production. Hand picked, small lots, barrel aged (French and Oregon oak), horse drawn tillers and gentle wooden basket pressers. No additives or enzymes. The result? A fresh light-bodied Pinot Noir that is earthy, spicy, lots of cherry and cherry cola. Medium+ acidity with smooth tannins. Meant to be enjoyed now. Perfect for grilled salmon, tuna, shellfish, grilled scallops.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A fragrant nose with lots of vanilla and red cherry. The palate shows bright cherry, vanilla and baking spice, earth and forest floor. Light-bodied, balanced, with a tart cherry finish.
This Oregonian Pinot Noir is hand-picked, basket pressed, small lot and barrel aged. The name "Illahe" means "place". This winery produces small-run batches of wines that are not fined or filtered, which is why you may notice some sediment in the bottle which is harmless and can be decanted off. - Community Wine Reviews
