Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An expressive red blend from one of Ontario's premium boutique wineries, Icellars Estate Winery in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Reserve Red brings together estate grown Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec to produce a beautifully balanced, silky smooth wine that's sure to be enjoyed by all. Fragrant sweet spices, plum, dark cherry, cacao, and fresh herbs on the nose and palate. Velvety smooth, with a refreshing finish, Reserve Red is primed to enjoy now and over the next five years. Enjoy with garlic-and-herb-crusted leg of lamb, or pork tenderloin with roasted strawberry-red wine sauce. Only 225 cases produced, so look for this winery direct. Tasted April 2020. 90+ points. Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The Reserve Red represents the lighter end of the spectrum at Icellars Estate Winery, but this Meritage blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec (40/30/20/10) clocks in at 13.6% ABV and is almost full bodied. Typical Icellars oak, firm and balanced, over fresh dark fruit aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, blueberry, and plum, accented by noteworthy pepper, eucalyptus, menthol, cedar, tobacco, and anise aromas. A mix of jammy and fresh fruits on the palate with herbal touches both following though the generous finish. Easy to drink and easy to enjoy, this is an ideal match for a broad range of dishes. Beef roasts and barbecue fare would be my choices.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Generous wine from Icellars Estate Winery located in the Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Reserve Red 2018 show great fruit quality, spice and balance. The wine is full body excellent for a nice evening and a fire place. Tasted at Taste Ontario, March 2020.
