Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Blackberry, plum, cassis, light wood, a hint of mushroom and earth. Some cedar pencil shavings and a touch of chilli pepper dark chocolate. On the palate this really brightens up. Some red fruit evolving - ripe strawberry still of rich ripe round dark plum, fresh bay leaves and some chewy dust. Dry, medium acidity, fairly high tannins. Excellent value and a super cool label design. Pair with pork ribs, medium cheese and brisket. Also a great accompaniment to spicy wings and pizza.
90 points
Adelle reviewed this wine as follows:

90 Points. Deep ruby. Powerful red fruit liqueur aromas are enlivened by sexy floral and Asian spice nuances. Fleshy, palate-coating raspberry and spicecake flavors show very good ripeness leavened by tangy acidity. At once rich and lively, this Garnacha wine finishes sweet, silky and long, with a hint of fine-grained tannins adding grip. An amazing value.

Wine
The vineyards of Calatayud are located high on the hillsides, 3,000 feet above sea level with poor gravelly soils that produce gnarled old vines in an arid, desolate region. White pepper and lots of acidity. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
