Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is an elegant and beautifully-balanced Chardonnay from Hester Creek Winery’s Estate Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench. Initially softly floral, it becomes rich on the nose with ripe pear, nougat, toffee, fine herb, citrus and soft mineral aromas. Dry and medium-plus-bodied, on the palate it is lush, creamy with ripe yellow apple, pear, apricot, butterscotch, lemon curd, tropical fruit notes and well-integrated toasty oak spice flavours finishing long and citrus zesty.

The Chardonnay grapes were sourced from Hester Creek Estate Winery’s low-yielding Block 17, from Dijon, Burgundy clones 76 and 809 known for their aromatics and elegance. Approximately one-third of the wine was barrel-fermented in 100% French oak and aged on its lees with battonage once a week giving the wine an added creaminess and mouthfeel. Both barrel-fermented and stainless-steel Chardonnay wines underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. After aging, the whole was blended to the beautifully-rounded and elegant Chardonnay I am tasting today. Paired with roast quail. Tasted September 2020.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An impressive creation from Hester Creek. This oaked chardonnay was stylishly round and textured with hints of floral perfume, honey dipped apples, juicy tangerines, creamy caramel and light touch minerality. Crafted with hand-harvested grapes from British Columbia’s Golden Mile Bench sub-appellation. Delicious. Enjoy.
