Henry of Pelham’s The Shadow Rock Sauvignon Blanc showcases a cool-climate grape granted extra time in the vineyard, resulting in a fuller, riper profile that minimizes the typically herbaceous edge seen in its New Zealand counterparts. The wine opens with an inviting medley of zesty grapefruit, lush pear, and hints of melon, while subtle spice nuances from light oak aging add an extra layer of complexity. On the palate, its creamy texture delivers flavours of ripe pear, kiwi, and the distinctive grapefruit synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc, enhanced by integrated spice notes and a gentle touch of vanilla—all culminating in a bright, invigorating finish. Pair it with fine herb goat cheese on a baguette, or smoked salmon quiche.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: fine herb goat cheese on baguette, smoked salmon quiche and brunch dishes, salads.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful Sauvignon Blanc with lovely ripe fruit giving rounded and rich flavour. Aromas of melon, grapefruit, and lemon, with soft greeen herbal notes and a touch of honeysuckle. Medium bodied, with bright acidity balancing rounded ripe fruit on the palate with a crisp, clean finish, rounded slightly with a touch of vanilla, likely coming from partial barrel fermentation. Delicious! Enjoy with shrimp pasta.
