Almost Bordeaux-like in its restraint and balance. Dark fruit but not fruit forward more smoke and earth essence. Full-bodied and long. Decant 1 hour and enjoy with a rare steak.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: barbecued ribs in sauce, hamburger, hard cheese, hodge-podge.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Some wines you never forget after your first taste; this is one of them. A very dark garnet, elegant Cab Sauv with slow viscosity and a great nose of cherry jam, vanilla and toasted oak. Delicious palate gives dark cherry, currant, vanilla, baking spices, smoked meat, forest floor and oak, in a well-structured, harmonious full-bodied mouthfeel. Rich, layered satisfying finish. Add this one to your gift wine list (to give or receive).
Heitz Wine Cellars was founded in 1961 by Joe and Alice Heitz and is now run by their children.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
