Lots of dried tobacco leaves, cigar box, smoke and cherry liqueur on the nose and palate of this huge Italian red wine blend made from the famous Appasimento method of drying grapes on straw mats before fermentation to concentrate flavours and alcohol. Pair with strong cheeses and gentle men.

Reviews and Ratings

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Luxurious and very well balanced. This Amarone from Giuseppe Campagnola bestows a glass full of sumptuous aromas of dried fig, sweet spice, tobacco, plum and leather. Medium-full body with smooth tannins and mouth-watering acidity. Flavours of dark berry, dried fig and leather lead to a long spicy-dark fruit finish. Enjoy this wine with stilton and parmesan cheeses. Tasted June, 2017.
The Amarone Della Classico from Giuseppe Campagnola (2012) is elegant with baked raspberry, cheery compote and ripe plum fruit. Great concentration on this with its dried fruit, fruitcake spice and mocha notes. - Community Wine Reviews
