A blockbuster red wine from the southern French winemaking region of Saint Chinian. Attractive aromas of fleshy black fruit, dark spice and smoke. This red wine blend is mostly Syrah and has a luscious velvet smooth texture. There are savoury and pepper notes on the finish. What an incredibly great wine for the price point. Pair with a rare steak or blood sausages.

Syrah Mourvèdre food pairings: veal steak, hearty meat dishes, roast duck.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ripe red fruit flavors dominate the bouquet of this French red wine from Midi. It is full bodied and smooth, a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes with a palate full of red tart fruit - cherry, raspberry, blackberry, oak spice, well integrated tannins and decent acidity. Enjoy with thin crust wood oven pizza. Tasted November 2017.

From Saint Chinian in the Midi wine region, Gérard Bertrand (2014) is a dark red, medium-bodied red wine blend of Syrah Mourvèdre with rich black fruit, dark spice and smoke on the nose. The wine is velvety on the palate and finishes with savoury and white pepper notes. - Community Wine Reviews
