Natalie's Score: 91/100

A robust southern French red wine blend of Syrah and Grenache grapes, with vines planted closer to the Mediterranean sea and therefore there are more spice accents in the finished wine along with red berries and pepper. Although the Languedoc is the world's largest wine region with 235,000 acres, it is not one homogenous mass or style wine-wise. There are actually 5 sub-climates and more than 50 different grapes used in varying blends. Compare that to the 5 grapes used in Bordeaux. There are also 8 different and distinctive winds that blow through the vines here as compared to one in the Rhone, the Mistral. Pair with steak and hamburgers.

Syrah Grenache food pairings: veal chops in creamy white wine sauce, veal schnitzel, Osso Buco, veal liver and olives in rose sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Blended from Syrah and Grenache, this wine has aromas of raspberry and cherry along with black pepper and smoke. Full bodied, with bright acidity and some light-medium tannins and lots of vibrant fresh berry notes. Enjoy this with beed short ribs.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
