Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

First time out for Fort Berens Estate Winery with this Traditional Method Blanc de Blanc Brut (2021) and like every wine the winery has made under the guidance of Winemaker and Viticulturist, Alessandro (Alex) Nel, there is a refinement and elegance in these wines that match well with Lillooet's sense of place and terroir.

Blanc de Blanc 2021 is the winery's inaugural bubble produced from 100% estate-grown Chardonnay grapes sourced from the winery's Dry Creek Vineyard. The wine was aged on its lees for 20 months after second fermentation in bottle (and riddled) and was disgorged on March 1 2024.

Delicate, light-bodied and fresh with aromas of lightly toasted almond, citrus blossom, soft orange with a gentle leesy, mineral finish on a fine perlage, it is a whisper on the palate with a tangy, fresh finish. Lovely finesse to this brut. Chill and enjoy it any time, any day for any occasion …and often. Tasted June 2024.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
