Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Fort Berens Estate Winery Small Lot Grüner Veltliner (2022) is absolutely stunning! Zesty, refreshing and with a lot of character, the wine is dry, medium-bodied and fragrant with orange blossom, fresh cut apple, pear, lime zest and fresh-cut grass aromas. juicy-fresh and beautifully balanced with medium-plus-acidity, creamy and crisp on the palate. Finishes long on a zesty lime note. So, so good now. Drink to 2025. Tasted June 2023.

The 2022 vintage was produced from 100% Grüner sourced from the winery's estate Red Rock Vineyard. Grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed and crushed with skin contact for up to four hours. A portion of the wine juice (30%) was fermented in neutral oak barrels with the balance cold-fermented in stainless-steel tank to enhance the wine's aromatics and mouthfeel. Easy to enjoy chilled on its own or with salads. 303 cases made.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
