Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Fort Berens Estate Winery does have a gift when it comes to making their estate Riesling and the winery is certainly consistent with their Riesling Reserve. Once again, a newly released RR 2023 shows lovely layers of fresh fruit, elegance and finesse.

A brilliant hue of straw gold with green fleck in the glass, you know it is going to be a brilliant Riesling! With medium-intensity aromas of summer-kissed white florals as the top note, ripe green apple, soft orange and Meyer lemon citrus notes follow with a hint of spice.

On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-bodied with ripe green apple, tropical fruit notes, citrus zest, baked pie crust, petrol and mineral notes, beautifully balanced with tongue-curling acidity, a touch of fruit sweetness and a long, white pepper finish. Fresh and lively, this wine can cut through any rich foods. Chill it up and enjoy it with a Swiss cheese fondue or smoked salmon Bennies topped with a rich Hollandaise sauce. Enjoy it from 2027 through 2034. Tasted June 2026.

“Fort Berens Estate Winery has been officially certified as a Sustainable Winegrowing BC vineyard and winery starting in 2025 after beginning the formal journey in 2023.”

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
