Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2022 Fort Berens Estate Winery Chardonnay is so crisp, fresh, bright and lively on the palate. It IS youthful and will continue to develop in bottle, but right now it is showing very well-defined flavours of crisp yellow apple, fresh green pear, lime and grapefruit zest with a touch of pineapple, biscuit and subtle spicy flavours on the palate. Beautifully balanced with medium-plus acidity and very good now, this dry, medium-bodied Chard. will be even better as it marries and mellows six months to one year in bottle (under screwcap). Tasted June 2023.

Produced with (55%) grapes sourced from the winery's estate Dry Creek Vineyard and Fraser Bench Vineyard in Lillooet with the balance of grapes sourced from the Summerland wine region. One-third of the grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in French oak barrels with the balance of grapes destemmed and crushed with cold fermentation in stainless-steel tank. The wine was aged for an additional four months in neutral French oak barrels giving the wine a silky mouthfeel. Drink or hold.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
