This rustic Spanish red wine was made at the winery's Finca del Marquesado estate where the vines are more than 35 years old. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 26 months. Lots of tanned leather and dried herbs. Not fruit forward, but enjoyable. Mouth-watering acidity. Pair with rack of lamb.

Food pairings: meat lover's pizza, lamburgers, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This award wining wine shows lovely earthiness and a notable leather, oak, coffee and herbaceous undertones. Eight years later, this wine is drinking beautifully and showing its outstanding structure. A blend of Tempranillo, Carignan and Garnacha - lengthy spicy finish.
Finca Del Marquesado Gran Reserva (2009) is a rustic and robust mature red with leather and spice. There is still great acidity on this Gran Reserva from Rioja red wine blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Grenache. Pair with moose bourguignon or venison ribs. - Community Wine Reviews
