Errázuriz's Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir from Chile is an elegant, medium-bodied red wine offering notes of ripe raspberry, red cherry, cranberry, and thyme. This dry wine displays sinewy tannins and mineral core that will continue to integrate over the next three years. Serve it slightly below room temperature with herb-roasted leg of lamb as the wine's structure complements the rich meat, or pair it with grilled veal chops where the wine's focused character balances the tender cut. Winemaker Francisco Baettig crafts this structured Pinot Noir from coastal vineyards twelve kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, where cooling maritime breezes create ideal conditions for the grape, aging the wine in previous-use French oak barrels with ten percent in concrete vats. Errázuriz has made a specialty of growing Pinot Noir on the Aconcagua Costa, pioneering this cool-climate region and demonstrating Chile's potential for producing world-class examples of this finicky variety. This pretty, food-friendly Pinot Noir represents excellent quality and will drink beautifully through 2029.

Pinot Noir food pairings: roast leg of lamb, veal Porterhouse steak, lamburgers.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby coloured wine, with a pronounced nose of ripe red fruit (predominantly red cherry and raspberry) and thyme, with a floral note. Alcohol is higher than typical Pinot Noir and it is dry, with medium tannin and acidity and a full body. I found this wine needed time to open up fully. It paired well with Emmentaler and Gruyere cheese fondue and Thyme/Gruyere biscuits.
