Elderton`s Ode To Lorraine 2015 is produced by the Ashmead Family and is a full-bodied red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, with Shiraz and Merlot grapes. Select barrels of each finished wine are chosen for this blend which is partially fermented in concrete and barrel. Elderton winery is certified Carbon Neutral. This big Australian red wine had ripe, juicy blackberry, savoury spice, dark fruit and oaky spice flavours on the palate. A perfect winter-warming red to enjoy by the fire with a cheesy comfort-food pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot blend leads with the Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of bramble and cedar. On the palate it is rich in red and dark fruit, offset with savoury notes. Reminiscent of a Bordeaux blend but fruitier, more approachable and frankly - more fun. The label says this 'Ode to Lorraine' is a tribute to their mother Lorraine who is so instrumental in the success of Elderton. This tribute has certainly hit its mark. This is so versatile it would be fun on its own, with burgers or pizza or your finest roast. Tasted Nov 22, 2019 www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A Barossa Valley, Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot that is full-bodied. Herbal aromas and dark fruit, tannins still very much present, this wine deserves further time to age. The palate leads to a heated finish now, but decanting for several hours would tame this wine. Beef or lamb would match the structure.

Select barrels of each finished wine are chosen for this blend which is partially fermented in concrete and barrel. Elderton winery is certified Carbon Neutral. Look for ripe blackberry, cassis, black plum, cherry, garrigue herb and spicy flavours on this Big Barossa red. Smooth on the palate with a long elegant finish. Pair with a New York striploin roast. Smooth texture, elegant finish. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
