Produced by M. Chapoutier, this is benchmark Rhone Valley red wine from a spectacular vintage. Black fruit, smoke, tar and black pepper. Full-bodied, balanced, concentrated with great depth. An incredible wine for this price point. Pair with filet mignon.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Elegant, full-bodied, smooth and seductive-great qualities in a wine or a man.
This Syrah, Grenache, Carignan blend has a lot of personality too! Aromatic with dark ripe raspberries, licorice, smoke, tar and meaty notes, it plays its cards in a very polished manner, revealing layers of dark fruit, pepper, dried herbs, smoke and earth. Extra dry, satiny, well-balanced and harmonious, with a long spicy finish. Take this one home and revel in the experience. Chapoutier-who else?
The 2013 vintage of this wine has more Syrah in the blend than previous vintages. This Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem sources grapes grown on vines planted in schist soils close to the village of Latour de France. It's a red wine blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Carignan grapes that were harvested on September 15. The wine was matured in concrete tanks. - Community Wine Reviews
