Mint and blackberry aromas on the nose, with a laser-like focus and cleanness on the palate: well-structured and balanced, not flabby. Terrific winemaking here. Loaded with dark fruit depths and concentration of flavour. Smart use and integration of oak, with this wine having spent 18 months in barrel. A great wine for both proposals and sealed deals! This full-bodied red wine pairs well with lamb.

Shiraz food pairings: grilled radicchio, beef prosciutto & greens, black bean soup, blue cheese, lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dark fruit, spice, earthiness, mint, and black pepper in the aroma, with a taste bursting with juicy dark fruits. Plenty of acidity and a silky mouth-feel make this very drinkable on its own, or paired with a variety of meats. I paired this with steak, and while the tannins are not what one would consider 'perfect' for the dish, it was very nice.
Made from parcels of grapes grown in the winery's Watervale and Penwortham vineyards, the 2012 vintage of Dark Side of the Moon is the product of low yield, non-irrigated vines. The wine was aged for 18 months in 30% new oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews
