CVNE Viña Real Crianza 2021 is a lively, vegan-friendly Rioja crafted primarily from Tempranillo with a touch of Garnacha. This dry, medium-bodied red offers bright cherry and blackberry fruit, complemented by savoury herbs, hints of baking spice, and a touch of cedar. The polished tannins provide a pleasant chew, and the wine finishes with a flinty note. Aged for up to 14 months in a mix of French and American oak, it is a versatile, food-friendly wine, which means you can try something like pineapple and pepper fried duck, or a sauteed duck with green peppers. Enjoy it now or cellar through the mid-2030s.

Crianza food pairings: sautéed duck with green peppers mushrooms and bamboo shoots, curried duck, pineapple and bell peppers fried duck.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lovely and balanced, but still bold and robust. This is a lovely Temranillo with Garnacha and Mazuelo blended in. Aromas of red cherry, marizipan, cedar, and savoury spices. Medium to full bodied, with bright red berry notes, slight hints of cedar as well as a touch of almond and more spicy hints. The finish is lengthy. Enjoy with pan seared duck.
