From the Jumilla wine region, Cr Gold 5 2019 is a rustic red wine blend of Monastrell from 50+ year old vines, and Syrah from younger vines of 30 years old. Grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged five months in a combination of neutral French and American oak barrels. The wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied and intense with ripe blackberry, spiced plum and smoky vanilla mouth-coating flavours. Pour with a grilled bavette steak or game sausages. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2020 Berliner Wein Trophy

Monastrell Syrah food pairings: lamburgers, vegetarian pizza, hard cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The Crapula Gold 2019, from the Jumilla region of Spain, offers aromas of black raspberry, black olive, oregano, game, mocha and cedar. Blended from 50% Monastrell and 50% Syrah, the wine shows afull body, light tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is long and structured, delivering flavors of black currant, blueberry, lavender, cocoa, sweet tobacco and spice. Enjoy!
