Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Enjoy Don Cristobal, Barrel Selection, Merlot varietal dominant, hand harvested at 600-900 meters above sea level, 2012 vintage, from Mendoza province Argentina, 14.5?V. Deep and dark with a rich purple hue, this wine invites you into a lavish experience of soft and supple tannins, red berry, blackberry, plum, hints of baking spice and graphite minerality. Medium acidity, dry, well balanced, well structured on its own and food friendly. Leaving you with a long finish and persistence of blackberry and ripe plum this wine shows her love and keeps on giving after your lips leave the glass. Recommend trying this wine with fusion Asian dishes and traditional Asian fare such as beef and broccoli or grilled meat. Enjoy now or hold 2015-2020.
The 2012 vintage of the Argentine red wine Cristobal 1492 Barrel Selection Merlot is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in the winery's La NiƱa vineyard. The estate's other two leading vineyards are La Pinta and La Santa Maria. The vines are planted at an elevation of some 630 metres above sea level and are hand-picked. The wine is matured in new oak barrels for 1 year before bottling. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
