Floral and fragrant like honey blossoms. This Romanian white wine is made form the Grasa grape and it offers attractive notes toasted almonds and ripe apricot. Pretty and soft post-prandial sipper: no acidity that's discernible. This botrytis-affected wine pairs well with Stilton and biscotti.

Grasa De Cotnari food pairings: blue-vein cheeses, roasted nuts, apricot galette.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This bright and light yellow coloured wine has pineapple aromas as well earl grey tea, clementine and hints of lime. On the palate, it has a beautiful harmony between its sweetness and its wonderfully invigorating acidity. The flavours are of candied pineapple, marmalade, and lime.

Tasted November 2017
Cotnari (2014) is a Romania dessert wine made from the Grasa wine grape planted in 450 hectares of vineyards Although Grasa is used to make both dry and sweet-style wines, this wine is a dessert wine made with botrytis-affected grapes to produce a semi-sweet style. Pair it with dark chocolate or soft blue cheeses. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
