Lots of rich mocha and coffee flavours from toasty oak aging. Fleshy dark berries and vanilla spice on the palate and finish. Full-bodied and supple. Pair with grilled meats or Mexican mole.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb Bolognese, grilled New York strip loin, hard cheese, braised pork shanks, veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rich cherry and blackfruit aromas waft out of the glass. The palate offers the same with some additional vanilla, spice and mocha flavors. The tannins are soft and provide a silky finish. Pair with tomato based pasta or grilled meat.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Horse Heaven Hills (H3) Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington is a blend of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon with a drop of Cabernet Franc for added complexity. 2013 was an exceptionally warm vintage with favourable conditions persisting well into the fall. The result is a big and rich consumer friendly wine. Deep ruby red colour, the nose shows rich blueberry pie, dark cherry, plum, clove, vanilla, and herb roasted beets. Yum! Full bodied and very flavourful, the palate is loaded with rich black currant, blackberry, blueberry, and plum that leads to a long fruity finish. Very impressive sub $20 wine. Enjoy with braised dishes, BBQ fare, flavourful cheese platters, or tangy hors d'oeuvres. Tasted November 2015. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Oh how I do like this wine. Beautiful medium-dark ruby red. Dark fruit on the nose, with chocolate and a hint of mint. On the palate, more of that dark fruit, with tobacco, mint, leather and cocoa. Medium-full bodied, with medium tannins. A delicious pairing with something sweet and salty, like teriyaki pork tenderloin with a side of sweet butternut squash. Also great for steak on the barbecue.
