Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is a vibrant, world-class white with expressive aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit, lime zest, and subtle herbal and wet stone notes. The palate is medium-bodied, dry, and crystalline, with racy acidity and 13% alcohol giving a long, invigorating finish. Serve it well-chilled to let its intense fruit and coastal minerality shine. This iconic Sauvignon Blanc helped put Marlborough on the global wine map in the 1980s, and the region’s cool nights and sunny days continue to produce wines with remarkable intensity and balance. The wine bursts with fresh, crisp notes of honeydew, passionfruit, and lemongrass, making it a versatile choice for gifting or pairing with seasonal dishes. Its crisp acidity and silky texture complement seafood, roast turkey, and stuffing beautifully. I’d pair it with fresh oysters and a squeeze of lemon, where the bracing acidity enhances the briny sweetness, or citrus-marinated grilled prawns, where its juicy fruit lifts the seafood beautifully.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: Crab cakes or citrus-glazed roast turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Beautiful New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that brings together fresh herbal, and tropical flavours. Aromas of lime, green herbs, pineapple, and lemongrass. Light bodied with vibrant, fresh acidity, and a smooth soft feeling on the palate, contrasted with vibrant citrus on the palate with hints of melon, grass, gooseberry and pineapple. Enjoy with oven roasted halibut or other white fish.
