Loaded with black pepper and dark spices on the nose. This is a terrific, full-bodied red wine for the money. Great palate whacker. The blend is 60% grenache grapes and 40% syrah. This is an AC wine.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Ripe raspberry and blackberry up front with black pepper, smokiness, and a touch of mint and sour cherry. There's a slightly 'gamey' note to it, although not unpleasant. The taste is blackberry and spice, and is quite dry. It's perhaps a touch hot and could use a touch less alcohol.
Winner of the Prix d'Excellence at the 2013 Concours Général Agricole in Paris, for excellence achieved over the prior three years. Source: Vintages Wine Ratings and Reviews, undated. The result is an almost black ink colour, with bright glints. The first woody aroma gives way to complex nuances of ripe fruit, blackberry and undergrowth. Concentrated, full-bodied and round, the palate follows the same line as the aromas, and its beautifully-grained tannins, possessing no roughness, support the unusually persistent finish. Score - 3 Stars out of 3 (Exceptional Wine) Source: Guide Hachette, 2012
