Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From Cotes de Bordeaux-Francs. Excellent QPR. Layered and intriguing. Stewed fruit, vanilla, dried fruit, fruit compote, green bell pepper, stony minerals, tobacco, dark chocolate and light hints of fennel. Flavours reveal dried cherries, strawberry balsamic reduction, toasted hazelnuts and a mix of fresh and dried herbs and soft smoky Cedar. A good accompaniment for lamb sausages or smoked meat sandwiches. 88 points - tasted May 2018
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted May 25th, 2018. Colour dark ruby red to light red on the rim. Legs medium thick. Aromas and flavours of black ripe plum, violets, dried cherry, old leather, cured meat. Taste dry, medium mouthfeel, mouthwatering, dark fruit integrated with soft expressive tannin like watered down black tea. Finish long on the tannin and fruit combo. I like this wine. Merlot can taste so good when blended with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannin gives it character. I was eating slices of dried chorizo sausage with the wine. The chorizo was a nice match because it gave the wine a nice pepper spice taste to the wine. Very good value for the price.
Recommend try.
Château Godard Bellevue 2010 is a great value Côtes de Bordeaux - Francs under $20. The red wine blend for this mature red is 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Look for ripe plum, cherry tobacco, leather and grilled meat flavours on the palate. The 2010 vintage was a strong one and has really come into its own. Drink now and pair with smoked and grilled meats. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
