Carpineto's Riserva Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from Tuscany is an elegant, medium-bodied red wine blending Sangiovese and Canaiolo with notes of red cherry, iris, graphite and espresso. This dry wine displays fine-grained tannins and bright acidity that will soften beautifully over the next nine years. Serve it slightly below room temperature with wild boar ragu over pappardelle as the wine's structure stands up to the rich game sauce, or pair it with herb-roasted pork tenderloin where the wine's savory complexity complements the aromatic thyme and sage. Winemaker Antonio Mario Zaccheo crafts this Riserva from estate vineyards surrounding the medieval hilltop town of Montepulciano, aging the wine in French and Slavonian oak to add layers of spice while preserving the fruit's purity. The Carpineto estate was founded in 1967 by Giovanni Carlo Sacchet and Antonio Mario Zaccheo, two friends who transformed a small farmhouse into one of Tuscany's most respected producers. This Riserva represents exceptional quality from one of the region's premier appellations and will continue to evolve through 2034.

Food pairings: grilled sirloin steak, tourtière, roast duck, Osso Bucco.
