Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Great value for lovers of medium bodied red with medium tannins. Good pairing with bbq fare, or roasted red meats. Tasted 2016 vintage in June 2019 decanted. 89 points
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A fresh and fruity red, accessible and friendly with notes of raspberry, cherry, and red currant with slight earthy, smoke, and leather hints. Good acidity paired with medium tannins and matched up to a medium body make for a well balanced and easy drinking red suitable for a wide range of dishes. Drink now with BBQ chicken, pork, lamb, beef, or veggies. Great value.
From Carmen, El Secano Vineyard 2016 is a Gran Reserva Carignan from the Maule Valley. Beautiful in a rustic sort of way and very well-priced under $20. Dark fruit, dried herb and savoury spice flavours on the palate. One for the BBQ. Founded in 1850, Carmen is Chile's oldest winery. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
