Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Wow! If this Merlot were a perfume (and it should be), it would be called Eau de Merlot. A very warm and sensuous deepest, darkest ruby in the glass, right from the first waft, you know this is going to be a ‘gooder’. Perfumed on the nose with candied spiced plum, ripe black currant, sandalwood, mint, cracked black pepper, nutmeg and cedar spice aromas. There’s a lot going on here. On the palate, dry (0.7 g/l residual sugar), mouth-filling and smooth with juicy, concentrated ripe plum, sweet dried tobacco leaf, cake spice, rich dark chocolate and a long smoky vanilla finish. This is just a beautiful Small Lots Merlot, an incredible inaugural effort by C.C. Jentsch Cellars from a strong vintage - worth every penny at $36 (winery price). Matured 17 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. Vegan friendly. The winery suggests pairing it with roast duck or BBQ spareribs. We paired it with slow-braised venison shanks and potato dumplings.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
