From Valpantena, Bertani 2020 Amarone Della Valpolicella is dark, rich and savoury with layers of cherry liqueur, ripe dark fruits, savoury herbs, sweet dried tobacco leaf, cacao, all wrapped up in a whiff of smoke and silky on the palate. A lush red blend of 80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Rondinella, grapes were hand-harvested and dried for four months before being made into wine and matured in a combination of 30- to 75-hectolitre barrels for 24 months. This wine was produced in Valpantena (meaning Valley of the Gods), and the only cru denomination in the Valpolicella region.
