Natalie's Score: 90/100

Dark and savoury with black fruit aromas on the nose, and a warm core of dark deliciousness on the palate. Some spices on the finish. Full-bodied and smooth. The 2007 vintage is drinking well now, but will also keep well in the cellar for a few more years. Pair with rack of lamb.

Food pairings: thick-cut pork chop.

Eye:
Ruby melding into garnet. Pale all the way to the rim

Nose:
Vanilla oak, red currant, charcoal

Palate:
Cherry vanilla, long cherry, red currant, not austere. Beautiful balanced fruit, some modernity in the style, darker red fruit. Goes straight to mid palate. Typical of 2007 vintage, elegant fresh style of fruit.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A terrific blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo in this dark garnet red wine from reknown Gonzalez Byass. A nose of ripe red cherries, vanilla and leather with a mouth-filling palate of ripe red fruit, herbal touches, vanilla, clove and leather. Full-bodied, rich mouthfeel and a long spicy ripe fruit finish.
This Spanish red wine was selected as the Best Red from Spain at the 2014 Korea Wine Challenge and was also a Gold Medal winner at the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards. This is a red wine blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes. The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels and another 36 months in the bottle. Finishes with blackcurrant and dried fig aromas. - Community Wine Reviews
