A sweet Pinot Noir in the style of Belle Glos and others with the taste of lots of residual sugar. Cheery sweet notes dipped in chocolate. Pair with Mexican mole.

Pinot Noir food pairings: lamb chops in red wine and garlic sauce, roast leg of lamb, gourmet hamburgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Very dark garnet with aromatic tart cherry, vanilla, subtle spice and dark chocolate. Palate gives ripe cherries, sweet spice, earth, dark chocolate and mocha. Dry with excellent acidity. Enjoy with cod stew with lime and herbs or grilled duck.
Tasted June 2017
California Böen (2015) is a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. "Boen" translates to "The Farm" - a nod to Owner and Winemaker Joe Wagner’s agricultural roots as a lifelong grapegrower and winemaker. The Russian River Valley is named as such due to its proximity to the Russian River, the river itself named for the Russian fur traders who came down from Alaska in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The proximity of this cool river and the rolling fogs from the Pacific Ocean make the area amenable to cool-climate grapes like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
