Natalie's Score: 90/100

This is one of four single vineyard wines from this Californian winery. The vines for this Pinot Noir grow in alluvial soils of the Russian River Valley. Heavy fog rolls in over the coastal range and burns off when the sun reaches its highest point in the day. This cooling morning effect and the loamy soils allows the Dijon clone of Pinot Noir in this wine to ripen slowly but to full maturity. Rich and chocolaty: although this is a dry wine technically, it has a generously sweet nose due to the ripeness of the fruit and the toasty oak again. Mocha and espresso flavours on the palate with fleshy sweet dark cherry notes. Supple and smooth. Pair with grilled chicken, Mexican mole or dark chocolate.

Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled chicken, roast pheasant, stuffed roast of veal breast.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Belle Glos' Dairyman Vineyard Pinot from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma Count is bold and complex Pinot that any Cali Pinot lover will go nuts over! Deep ruby red, it could fool you for a Napa Cab in its colour alone, the nose shows concentrated plum, clove, black cherry, dark fruit compote, and sweet cola. The palate is rich with complex layers of smoky dark fruit, cola, vanilla, and spice. A gorgeous full bodied Pinot that will be loved by those that enjoy full bodied full flavoured wines. Tasted October 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A very dark garnet red in the glass with delicious ripe cherry, blackberry and cola nose. Palate gives ripe raspberries, blackberries and cola with hints of baking spice. Full-bodied Pinot with an unusual cola finish. Things go better with a Coca-Cola Pinot Noir!

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromatic and delicious! Jammy blackberry & cassis , mocha, vanilla, cinnamon and cedar dominate the aromas and flavours. This red shows well-balanced acidity, smooth tannins, off-dry fruit concentration, and a long jammy finish. Tasted Oct 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
