Natalie's Score: 88/100

A medium-bodied white blend of mostly Chenin Blanc with splashes of Roussanne, Viognier and Semillon. The wine was wild-yeast fermented between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius with a portion fermented in previous use, large oak barrels. Fragrant and juicy with ripe orchard fruit, peach, apple, melon, beeswax and grassy notes on the palate. Delish with roast chicken.

Food pairings: spinach and pepper jack stuffed chicken, pork tenderloin, toasted ravioli served with Alfredo sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Paarl wine region, Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin 2017 is a medium-bodied white blend of organically-grown Chenin Blanc with some Roussanne, Viognier and Semillon. Look for beeswax, lime zest, melon, grapefruit, tropical and stone fruit notes on the palate. Winery owner, Johnathan Grieve employs a “posse” of ducks that patrol the vineyard looking with a taste for snails which eat the grapevines. The ducks are an eco-friendly alternative to harmful chemical poisons to kill pests and act as the guardians of the vines on Avondale. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
