Terrific for the price: full-bodied, smooth and supple. Aromas of black toasted fruit, smoky oak from generous oak aging. Pair with pepperoni pizza.

Monestrell should offer earth and leather aromas when done well and this one does not dissapoint. Additional bottle time has allowed this wine to evolve nicely. Earth/soil aromas dominate the nose along with nice vanilla oak accents. The berry fruit is prominent on the palate with a bit of fresh jam flavours. Vanilla and leather flavours arrive on the scene after the rest. A nice dance.

A gorgeous nose with dried fruit, rosemary, sweet baking spices, and cedar. The palate is dry and lively, with big tannins, making this a great wine to enjoy with rich dishes high in protein. Decant prior to service. Tasted February 2015. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Plum and cherry aromas, dried fig, with a good whiff of smoke, and a dusting of clove. This wine is somewhat brooding, a little syrupy in the mouth. Definitely a lot of character, and a great price. I would drink this with one of those over-the-top decadent burgers... Maybe one with foie gras?

Also known as Mouvedre, this medium ruby wine has some candied red fruit and floral tones along with baking spice. Sour cherry, cedar and white pepper show on the medium frame of this wine with good acidity and fine chalky tannins.

Some jammy cooked strawberry, cherry, and prune, but dominated on the nose by oak, with some vanilla, cedar, cocoa, menthol, a bit of black pepper, and some volatile acidity. Tart (and somewhat bitter) cherry, black pepper, menthol, and a vague woodiness come across very strongly on the palate. Medium body, with medium plus acidity and tannins. Rather hot alcohol, especially on the finish.
