Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

An excellent Douro red, with explosive aromatics. The grapes are primarily Touriga Franca and Tinto Roriz (Tempranillo), with other traces of Douro varietals. Firm and full, and so incredibly fresh and concentrated.
Glass coating ruby.
The aromatics are very Cab-esque. The aromas jump out at you; cassis, leather, dried herbs, cranberry, cherry, petrichor, chocolate, vanilla, and smoke.
Juicy acidity gives this wine a wonderful freshness that pulls it away from being bulky or brooding in any semse of the word.
More cassis, cherry, cranberry, chocolate, smoke, with ripe, smooth tannins.
Touriga Franca is the progeny of Touriga Nacional (most people conjecture) and it is used often as Cabernet Franc is to complement its full bodied progeny, Cabernet Sauvignon. This meams Touriga Franca plays second fiddle to Touriga Nacional. It's wonderful to see a blend with lots of Franca showing its pretty and elegant aromatics.
Reviewer's choice - tasted twice consistently and will endeavour to try again.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous! 2013 vintage Paired exceptionally with carne asada tacos. Well balanced, week I defeated, medium tanins, medium acidity, medium plus fruit of fresh figs, savoury, blackberry. tasted 2013 vintage in August 2017. 91 points. BespokeTastings
Varieties: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and other Douro varieties.
Tasting notes: Dark and intense color. The aroma is dense, marked by ripe fruit, plum, and blueberry. It shows notes of gooseberry, grapefruit, violet, menthol, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and iodine. The palate is profound, with a seductive volume, smooth astringency, and perfect balance. The finish is very long, displaying good ability of age.
Winemaking: Grapes were hand-picked, being destemmed and gently crushed at the winery, into granite ‘lagares’ and open oak barrels. Then they were macerated intensely by hand, extracting the delicate flavors. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, the wines were transfered into french oak barrels, aging during 24 months, before bottling.
Bottling: July 2016; 1 200 bottles.
