Journey's End Gabb Family Winery Shiraz 2012, Stellenbosch W.O., South Africa: So mouth-wateringly delicious! The shiraz grapes are grown in the foothills of the Hottentot Mountains overlooking False Bay, thus Journey's End. The vines are planted in ancient mineral soils and benefit from cool coastal breezes. The wine is aged for 18 months in 3,000 litre oak barrels (very large so they don't impart a lot of oak flavour). Savoury and juicy with a meaty note that makes this ultra delicious. This is a full-bodied red that will tempt you to drink it too fast: it's that tasty. Wakefield Winery Jaraman Shiraz 2015, Clare Valley, South Australia, Australia: Dark chocolate and sweet black fleshy plums on the nose with a pleasant zing of acidity mid-palate for lots of dishes from tangy meat sauces to grilled meats. More black fruit and mouth-filling roundness. A consistently good producer at fair prices for the quality. Highly recommended. This Australian red wine is a regional blend of Shiraz grapes of about two-thirds Clare Valley and one-third McLaren Vale regions. The wine was partially cold-soaked for 4 days, then aged in 100% new American oak barrels for 11 months. Deeply concentrated and flavoured. Gérard Bertrand Gris Blanc Rosé 1.5L 2016, Pays D'oc, Midi I.G.P., France: A pale ballet slipper pink, almost crystalline transparency in the glass. This southern French rosé is made from Grenache Noir and Grenache Gris grapes, thus Gris Blanc (grey-white) are hand-picked in the Roussillon region located in Tautavel between the Mediterranean sea and the Pyrenees mountains. The wine is matured on the fine lees for several weeks before bottling. Lovely mouth-watering acidity for fresh seafood salads.
