Meandro Do Vale Meão 2012, Douro D.O.C., Portugal: The Douro region continues to impress me with the rising quality of its dry table wines like this one. Meandro do Vale Meão is Quinta do Vale Meão's second wine, and it's produced by F. Olazabal & Filhos with the same meticulous attention to detail as the flagship wine. Robust, concentrated and deep, this red wine has so much to offer alongside a juicy steak. OTHER: Quinta Meandro do Vale began in the late 1800s as the passion project of Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, owner of the largest winemaking estate in the Douro at that time. This wine blends 38% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and a handful of other varieties, all trodden by foot in the old-school way before being vinified in stainless steel and aged in French Allier oak barriques.
