Note: This batch of wine reviews is not part of the bi-weekly Vintages Releases. Instead, this is a collection of wines outside the Vintages section in store (general list) or wines sent to me directly from wineries that may not yet be available in stores. Please note that our reviews are based on a variety of sources: samples sent to our team, those we purchase in store, tasting events, those tasted in restaurants and while traveling domestically and internationally.

White Wine

Cantina Lavis Pinot Grigio 2023, Alto Adige-Trentino, Italy: It’s a steal at just $15, less than half the price of top-notch Pinot Grigios, and it tastes even better. More than 800 small, family-owned farms grow grapes for this wine, making it the wine version of an Avengers team-up, with more stainless steel and less spandex. Crisp and refreshing, it offers bright aromas of green apple, lemon zest, pear, and subtle floral hints. Light to medium-bodied and dry, with lively acidity and clean, juicy fruit, it finishes crisp and invigorating at about 12% alcohol. This Pinot Grigio showcases the cool-climate clarity and purity of fruit typical of northern Italian whites. Cantina Lavis, a cooperative winery in Trentino, produces approachable, varietally pure wines that reflect the region’s alpine influence and long winemaking tradition. Serve well chilled. Pinot Grigio food pairings: grilled shrimp skewers, lemon herb chicken, fresh garden salad, mild goat cheese. Drink: 2025 - 2027 30961 12.5% D 750 mL $15.00 Score: 93/100. August 2025. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart

Red Wine

Versado Reserva Malbec 2014, Lujan De Cuyo, Argentina: Owner and winemaking consultant Peter Gamble and chief winemaker Roberto de la Mota have created a blockbuster Argentine red for the 2014 vintage. Made from the iconic Malbec grape, this wine underwent a spontaneous fermentation, rather than one induced by the winemaker with specific yeasts. The wine was aged in oak barrels. This is another gorgeous red wine from Versado - this wine and winemaker perform consistently well every year. Aromas of fleshy black fruit, dried herbs, spices and pepper. Pair with grilled lamb. Highly recommended. Malbec food pairings: roasted veal, hearty soups, roasted duck breast, hamburger. Drink: 2025 - 2028 316984 13.9% XD 750 mL $69.95 Score: 95/100. August 2025. Top Rated Red Wine Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
