Deborah Podurgiel scored this wine: 94/100
I have to say, Solvero has the magic touch when it comes to Chardonnay! Due to the Okanagan freeze up in 2024, Solvero went outside of British Columbia to source grapes for this vintage. The winery sourced grapes that were "perfectly suited for barrel fermented Chardonnay" from an exceptional vineyard block in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, Aebischer, Oregon, This is no exaggeration because this is a beautiful Chard, 100% barrel-fermented in mostly neutral oak and 14% new Mercurey barrels giving it a full, rich and rounded mouthfeel. "Battonage was performed through partial Malolactic fermentation and then (the wine) was aged for 11 months in barrel."
Sensuously rounded and incredibly silky on the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, fragrant and mouth-filling with fresh-cut Bartlett pear, apple dumpling, stone fruit aromas, with notes of toasted hazelnut, brioche and lovely spring-rain mineral flavours finishing long on the palate. Complex? Yes, but simply gorgeous and so easy to love. Tasted June 2026.
