Bartier Bros. Chardonnay 2025

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia BC V.Q.A., Canada
8 hours, 9 minutes ago

Deborah Podurgiel scored this wine: 93/100

From a spectacular vintage, Bartier Bros. Chardonnay (2025) is a dry, medium-bodied, minerally and flinty unoaked Chard with bright green apple, pear, lemon-lime zest, flinty aromas and flavours clean, crisp and super fresh on the palate with a long minerally finish. Grapes for this 100% Chardonnay were hand-harvested from the winery's Cerqueira Vineyard, Black Sage Terrace in Oliver, British Columbia. Chill and enjoy it with freshly steamed and chilled Dungeness crab, Caesar salads, or creamy cheeses. Tasted June 2026. Winemaker's Notes: 2025 was a warm, sunny season with steady, even ripening that gave Chardonnay grapes bright acidity and expressive fruit flavours. Handpicked and fermented in stainless steel to maintain its crisp, bright flavours."

Lunessence ESV Field White just gets better and better. The 2025 vintage is the fifth release of this gorgeous, sun-loving wine! It is a beautiful balance of fruit to freshness and totally made for summer! Chill and enjoy it now through 2028. Tasted May 2026. Vinification: grapes were wild fermented and whole cluster pressed. Solvero Chardonnay 2024

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, BC V.Q.A., Canada

Deborah Podurgiel scored this wine: 94/100

I have to say, Solvero has the magic touch when it comes to Chardonnay! Due to the Okanagan freeze up in 2024, Solvero went outside of British Columbia to source grapes for this vintage. The winery sourced grapes that were "perfectly suited for barrel fermented Chardonnay" from an exceptional vineyard block in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, Aebischer, Oregon, This is no exaggeration because this is a beautiful Chard, 100% barrel-fermented in mostly neutral oak and 14% new Mercurey barrels giving it a full, rich and rounded mouthfeel. "Battonage was performed through partial Malolactic fermentation and then (the wine) was aged for 11 months in barrel." Sensuously rounded and incredibly silky on the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied, fragrant and mouth-filling with fresh-cut Bartlett pear, apple dumpling, stone fruit aromas, with notes of toasted hazelnut, brioche and lovely spring-rain mineral flavours finishing long on the palate. Complex? Yes, but simply gorgeous and so easy to love. Tasted June 2026.

Hester Creek Estate Winery The Judge 2022

Deborah Podurgiel scored this wine: 94/100

This is a winning wine for Dad's Day! From an amazing vintage and one of the best for red wines across the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Judge 2022 is a Bordeaux-style red blend crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec grapes (47%/34%/17%/1%/1%) from the estate winery, and the wine was aged in a combination of new and neutral French oak barrels for 24 months. Dry, full-bodied and lifted with dark cherry, fresh red cherry, cocoa, savoury herbs, dried sweet tobacco and subtle cake baking spices, framed with velvety chalky tannins, it is refined and poised, ultra-balanced and lovingly crafted. Smooth and sultry with a long and fresh finish, enjoy it lightly chilled with a roast beef dinner, or as the winery suggests "smoked ribs or a barbecued ribeye." Tasted June 2026. Judge 2022 was awarded Double Gold at the Northwest Wine Awards and Gold at the 2025 Platinum Awards??
