Coyam Organic Red Blend

Emiliana Coyam Organic Red Blend 2019

Rapel Valley, Chile

Jay scored this wine: 91/100

Great value here in thiscomplex red blend from Emiliana's vineyards in the Colchagua Valley. Syrah and Carmenere dominate, with another 6 varietals playing in this symphony. Rich with blackberry, cassis and leather, with floral notes. Drinking beautifully now with minimal decanting.

Junior Vintage

Poças Junior Vintage Port 2017

First time trying this Port producer and it was a great first impression. Very dark inky purple in colour. First sip was like the best dark chocolate covered berry ever, then with a little bit of air time in the glass, more complex notes of burnt toffee and and mocha emerged.

El Enemigo Chardonnay 2018

A delicious and well rounded Chard. Toasted oak awakens the nose and palate, giving way to baked apple and vanilla poached pear. Creamy mouthfeel that lingers pleasantly.

A very pleasant and light Burgundy, with some tart berry and herb flavours. I've got another bottle on hand for the next time I make salmon with sundried tomato and olives!

Bin No. 1

Best's Bin No. 1 Shiraz 2018

Victoria, Great Western, Australia

Jay scored this wine: 90/100

Outstanding value from one of my favourite Aussie producers. Hailing from the Great Western region of Victoria Province, which has a cooler climate than the more famous Barossa, here you will find a Shiraz that is as elegant as it is powerful. Delightful floral aromas pierce through the rich fruit and spice complexities on the palate. Drinks well now, but has enough oomph to lay down for another 3-5 years

Memorable Wine

Many to choose from, for different reasons. Top 5 (in no real order), 1995 Krug Clos du Mesnil, 2001 Amon-Ra, 2005 Rollingdale Pinot Gris Icewine, 1990 Vega Sicilia, 1995 Moulin Touchais

First Wine

When I was 17, my cousin gave me a taste of '92 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay, and '85 Batasiolo Barolo. Both were revelations.
