Grand Cru

Château Pindefleurs Grand Cru Meritage 2009

A.C., Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France

Katelin scored this wine: 91/100

Hailing from the right bank of Bordeaux, this St Emilion Grands Crus is most interesting because it reminiscent of the left bank Bordeaux style in its strength and complexity (its dark purple colour gives away its origins). Dark hued, and fruit forward. Jammy cooked fruits, chocolate, with the slightest hint of mint. The wine evolved considerably over the evening.

Chateau Les Tourelles 2007 Delicious sweet wine from Cadillac, Bordeaux. Sweet with a undertone of spice - nutmeg and cloves. I detected red pepper jelly, while others in the group insisted that it was quince jelly.. Regardless, the sweet and spicy was well balanced. Not a super complex Sauternes, but a lovely sweet wine.

Sepp Moser 'Sepp' DAC Grüner Veltliner Von Den Terrassen 2012, Kremstal, Austria Beautiful pale straw hue. Intense white floral on the nose. Slightly acidic but could use a punching up of the lime leaf detected on the palate. Goes wonderfully with soft goat and cow cheeses. I thoroughly enjoyed the "less is more" strategy of this producer, and appreciated that it was made bio-dynamically.

Heat on the palate, tight and tannic. Personally I believe this wine needs maturing before it can fully be enjoyed. Whispers of dark chocolate and blackberry jam, I was hoping for them to develop more in the mouth than they did. I give this score based on potential in a few years time.
