Entourage Methode Classique Sparkling Brut

Jackson-Triggs Entourage Methode Classique Sparkling Brut 2007

Dawn reviewed this wine:

In 2012 Jackson -Triggs Entourage Methode Classique Sparkling Brut Niagara Estate made Decanter’s award list and that’s where it deserves to be. Aged (‘en tirage’) on the lees for three years, this extra dry Pinot Noir (70%) Chardonnay (30%) blend is delightful. Fine bubbles form an effervescent fizz, whilst apple, vanilla and floral aromas complement the smooth, pleasantly expressive finish. I’m a great believer in bubbles, any where, any time and Jackson -Triggs Entourage Methode Classique Sparkling fits perfectly; the perfect wine for every occasion

Flourish Wines Vidal Icewine 2008

Dawn scored this wine: 87/100

I absolutely loved this wine. I’m not a great Vidal grape fan but the winemaker has created a little gem with this one. It’s voluptuously sweet, fragrant and concentrated with deliciously peachy/apricot/honey flavours; in fact, it’s easier to say what flavours aren’t there. It’s also fresh, lively and at 9.5%, low in alcohol. If you don’t want to make crème-brulee, just sip a glass (or two, it’s hard to stop and the bottle is so small!) of Flourish and, if you haven’t discovered the delight of sweet wine with fruit and cheese, go for it!

Open Riesling Gewürztraminer 2011

Dawn reviewed this wine:

I like dry, I like sweet and I don’t usually like anything inbetween, but medium sweet Open Riesling-Gewürztraminer is the perfect lazy-hazy-days-of-summer drink. Fragrant and visually appealing, the bottle sports great labelling to complement the clear straw colour, whilst fresh Gewurztraminer fruit blends with Riesling balance and acidity for a very enjoyable experience. Delicious with sushi (I know ‘cos I’ve tried it), a Thai green curry, fresh fruit dessert or Pavlova…Crisp meringue paired with fruit, whipped cream and Open Riesling-Gewürztraminer is a marriage made in dessert-ville!

Black Reserve

Jackson-Triggs Black Reserve Meritage 2010

Dawn reviewed this wine:

Niagara 2010 vintage could possibly be the best of the decade and Jackson-Triggs Black Series Meritage reflects those perfect conditions. With an alcohol per volume of 13.3%, this extra dry, competitively priced ($13.45) wine adheres to the traditional 37/32/31 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. Aged in both French and American oak barrels, (French generating satiny tannins whilst American providing more creamy, vanilla compounds), this Meritage, with it’s ruby robe, delicious ripe fruit/oaky bouquet and good structure confirms a wine worth buying. However, it is still a touch assertive, and since most wines benefit from a period of quiet in-the-bottle contemplation, I’d give it either another couple of years and/or decant, decant, decant…for several hours.
