Edouard Delaunay’s 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru holds nothing back, giving you plenty to talk about and enjoy. This red Bourgogne’s alluring and abundant aroma suggests a cherry and black berry jam teamed up with red licorice, mint and eucalyptus. This pinot noir feels silky, dessert dry and tilts to full-bodied. I particularly like how this Grand Cru tastes. Its flavours are in no rush to leave as they share with you cherries, berries, stacks of herbal goodness and sweet spices. Plenty to talk about and enjoy in this wine? Absolutely. This is a gorgeous wine from the team leading Edouard Delaunay’s rebirth in Bourgogne. What is Clos de Vougeot? It is the largest Grand Cru appellation within France’s Côte de Nuit appellation. Clos de Vougeot is a 50+ hectares vineyard subdivided between 80 owners. The 2018 Edouard Delaunay’s grape were handpicked from plots within Clos de Vougeot that feature limestone and clayey soil. This syrah is a sensory event in a glass. From New Zealand, this aged red reveals baking spices and forest floor notes that complement a core of stewed cherry and cassis. Visually appealing, this product of Hawke's Bay is ruby red tinged with purple hues. Full bodied, this syrah has a long finish.

I enjoyed every minute of tasting this Domaine Drouhin because its aroma + flavour + feel is spectacular. This pinot noir checks a lot of boxes for me. Its delicate flavours are vibrant expressions of red cherries and currants teamed up with sweet cedar and mocha, a beautiful match for this pinot’s headlining flavours. Layers of red cherries (more fresh than ripe) and savoury spice undertones. This creation from Oregon’s Dundee Hills viticultural area feels medium bodied, super dry, velvety, with small scale tannins and a minutes long finish. Superb. What’s more, Domaine Drouhin is LIVE certified. LIVE certification relates to sustainable viticultural practices in the United States’ Pacific Northwest. Reviewed April 2022

Opened in Fall 2020 and it was outstanding. Crafted from pinot noir grown in Ontario’s Prince Edward County appellation, The Beloved revealed eye-catching garnet hues and expressive notes evocative of ripe cherry and cranberry, dill, fennel, garden soil and broken in leather. Medium bodied, Velvet tannins. Extended finish. This is an impressive creation from Exultet Estates. Drink now or let mature even more. Enjoy. Reviewed on October 2, 2020
