Wakefield Estate Label 2021 Chardonnay is a great value, cool-climate Clare Valley Estate Chard under $17. Juicy and creamy with ripe peach, tropical fruit, citrus zest and toasty, spicy flavours balanced with fresh acidity on the palate. A portion of the grapes for this Chardonnay were barrel-fermented and the wine was matured for eight months in French oak barrels. Food versatile, the wine is a perfect foil for sauteed scallops in a lemon butter sauce. This vintage was awarded Double Gold at the 2022 China Wine & Spirits Awards.

Chardonnay food pairings: turkey burgers, crab cakes, chicken breast, lobster in butter sauce, cheese.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a lovely and fresh Chardonnay, with aromas of apple, pear, and peach with hints of pineapple and hazelnut. A portion of this wine is fermented in oak barrel and the result is a nice balance of flavours, freshness, and softness. Enjoy with any seafood or shellfish.
