Tenuta di Arceno Chianti Classico Riserva from Tuscany opens with aromas of crushed strawberry, tart cranberry, dried lavender, and charred oak with whispers of pipe tobacco and earthy loam. Dry and medium-bodied with supple, silky tannins, it glides across the palate with concentrated berry fruit before finishing with persistent length and mouth-watering acidity. Serve it slightly below room temperature or cellar it through 2042. Pierre Seillan and Lawrence Cronin, the winemaking team who have collaborated for nearly 20 years at this Jackson Family estate, craft this Riserva from mostly Sangiovese with Merlot sourced from warmer, south-facing vineyard blocks, aging it for one year in small French oak barrels using the micro-cru philosophy that divides the 92-hectare vineyard into 60 distinct blocks farmed and vinified separately. Purchased in 1994 by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke from the noble Piccolomini family who acquired the property in 1829, this historic estate near the fork of the Ambra and Ombrone rivers traces its winemaking roots to the 16th century and was once the nexus of the pre-Roman Etruscan civilization. Pair this opulent red with herb-crusted roast beef where the wine's structured tannins complement the savory, charred flavors, or enjoy it with grilled lamb chops as the wine's concentrated fruit enhances the rich, gamey meat beautifully.

Chianti Classico food pairings: herb-crusted roast beef, grilled lamb chops, aged Pecorino cheese.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
